One of the world's most expensive cars, the Audi R8, caught fire on Sunday in Mumbai, at the prestigious two-day Fifth Mumbai Parx Supercar Show-2013 which shows off the top cars used by those in the city. The Rs 1.8 crore ($333,765) silver grey Audi R8 race car caught fire on the Rajiv Gandhi Bandra-Worli Sea Link on Sunday afternoon.

Local police and fire officials said the cause of the fire was not clear and it was extinguished moments after it had started. No casualties in the incident, but caused major traffic on the northern land side of the sea link for two hours. Because of some previous modifications on the car, Audi India head Michael Perschke said that preliminary investigations revealed these may be the reasons for the fire, with more investigations to begin.

Other cars that participated included the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster (reportedly the only in the country) and the Ferrari 458GT. Kingfisher chairman Vijay Mallya's customized golden Lamborghini Aventador was also spotted as were several other Lamborghini Aventadors, Ferraris, BMWs, Audis, and Mercedes-Benzs.
